The Environmental Studies & Sciences Program at Â鶹´«Ã½ College offers an innovative curriculum that allows students to combine study in social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, and fine arts. The program encourages a personalized combination of interdisciplinary coursework and a sustained examination of global and local contexts environmental issues from many perspectives.

 

Maymesters are unique opportunities to study off-campus or abroad with Â鶹´«Ã½ professors who are experts in their fields. Here, Dr. Michael Collins and Spring Smith '21 talk about Â鶹´«Ã½' Maymester in Namibia.

Prof. Jennifer Sciubba interviewed Dr. Cary Fowler '71 about his work to conserve crop diversity. The Steve and Riea Lainoff Crop Trust Fellowship in Honor of Cary Fowler '71 provides funding for a recent Â鶹´«Ã½ College graduate to work at the Crop Trust in Bonn, Germany for 12 months after graduation.

Departmental News and Events

Six graduating seniors’ portraits are being added to Â鶹´«Ã½ College’s Hall of Fame on the second floor of Southwestern Hall. They are Keith Adams, Shanteise Bonds, Anh Duy Hoàng, Dylan Morris, Anna Yates, and Sana Zein-Sabatto.
Sam Supan ’25 won the undergraduate category and Shannen Alack ’27 was runner-up at the annual Memphis Area Collegiate Geospatial Showcase, held this year on the Â鶹´«Ã½ College campus.
Dr. Gretchen E. Henderson has been named the Spence L. Wilson Distinguished Professor in the Humanities at Â鶹´«Ã½ College following a national search.
